Required Level of Achievement


Students in the instructor training courses must maintain a minimum grade point average of 70% in both theory and practical areas of the course. Theory and Practical Final Exam scores must be at least 85% for a diploma to be issued. The grading scale and attendance rules for this course and identical to those outlined for the cosmetology course.

Graduation Requirements


-- Completion of 1000 ( or 500) hours of required Cosmetology Instructor training
-- Completion of course within 150 % of stated timeframe on attendance agreement
-- Passing scores of at least 85% on Final theory and practical examinations
-- Tuition balance must be paid in full

Upon successful completion of this course, each student will be issued a diploma and a transcript of hours completed.

Course Content (1000 hours)

Post-Graduate Training (500 hours)
Includes review of all subjects taught in the Basic Cosmetology course outline (theory and practice)

Education Psychology (20 hours)
Includes topics in educational objectives, student characteristics and development, the learning process, and an evaluation of learning as it relates to teaching.

Teaching Methods (Theory) (20 hours)
Includes the study of individual differences in learning lesson planning and design, lesson delivery, assessment of learning performance, classroom management, student motivation and classroom climate.

Application of Teaching Methods (150 hours)
Involves preparation and organization of subject matter to be presented on a by unit basis, and presentation of subject matter through use of various methods including lecture, demonstration, testing and assignments. Presentations should provide teaching objectives to be accomplished and correlate theoretical with practical application.

Business Methods (50 hours)
Includes inventory, record keeping, interviewing and maintaining supplies.

Student teaching (260 hours)
